One of the things that makes me want to run a race is the cause behind it, that’s why when i was invited to run for the “Race for the Orphans” i was so grateful because i know in my own little way of running, i will be helping the beneficiaries of the race.
That’s why even without sleep, i still came to Camp Aguinaldo Grounds last February 12 to run in the 10K category.
I went to the events area with Thirdy & Noel, we all had no sleep for that race because we all attended the Bloggers Open Forum the night before. Sir Rene, one of the organizers of the race, was also present, meaning wala din syang tulog. 😀
It was my first time to run in Camp Aguinaldo. Maganda pala dun. The place was perfect for small races.
And the race started! 10K runners ran around the Camp Aguinaldo united in one cause: to give hope and provide scholarship grants through “I-Hope”, a trust fund that will support the educational needs of the orphans of soldiers who were killed in action in Mindanao.
I plan to run with Thirdy & Noel the whole race but due to having no sleep at all, i was only able to keep up with on the first 20 minutes. After that i lost them and i ran the race alone.
Saw a lot of familiar faces on the race: Team USB, Team Diadora, Team Reebok , Team PF and a lot more.
The route was challenging pala!!! Hill repeats kung hill repeats. LOL. But it was nice, it brought out the competitiveness in me kahit antok na antok ako. 😀
Hydration Stations & Marshalls were strategically positioned along the race course. Mejo nakakalito lang yung repeat ng last loop, but good thing was, there were Marshalls to guide you.
I finished the race with a time of 1:07. PR is 1:06. Di man lang na beat. Haha. Pero oks lang. Wala akong tulog e. 😀
Over all it was a very nice event. The runners were all happy. It was like a gathering of runner friends. I think they lived up to their goal of organizing an intimate race event for a cause.
Thank you and Congratulations to Rundezvous for a very successful race! 😀
