Last Saturday, i was invited to take part in the “test run” for media & bloggers of the upcoming Salomon X Trail Run. The race, which is said to be “the most technical” trail running event in the country (define technical?!?) is set to happen in the beautiful and exclusive lands & waters of the Hamilo Coast: SM Land’s premier sustainable leisure destination in Nasugbu, Batangas. Hamilo Coast offers residential condominiums, villas, residential lots & hotels. Pico de Loro Cove, the exact venue of the Salomon X Trail Run, is the first phase of the Hamilo Coast development plan. For more details you may visit: www.hamilocoast.com
I met up with the Salomon Team at R.O.X, together with the other bloggers & trail runners. We left BGC at around 5am and arrived at Hamilo maybe pass 7am. Travel time was more than two hours. 🙂
This is the 3rd Salomon X Trail Run in the Philippines, and this is the 2nd time i got to be invited to join the test run. It was nice too see old and new blogger friends. This test run became sort of our mini reunion every year. 🙂
The Salomon Team presented the concept, race details and the schedule of activites for the Salomon X Trail Race, showed us a graphical presentation of the actual 24K route. We were all like… what the
We started the “test run” at around 10am. It was soooooo init. Lol. We ran the 6K route. It was a combination of road & trail, but mostly trail. The trail part consists of beach run (with big rocks!), uphills & downhills, a very narrow trail into the woods, a long hike of “rockstairs”, and a lot of magnificent views! Don’t forget to bring your camera! (and a photographer friend. haha)
After running the road part of the race, we ran down to the beach where you will have to tip toe to small rocks and big rocks. You really need to be careful because there might be sharp rocks that might break your shoes, not unless your wearing Salomon X Trail Mission! Naks. lol
At the end of the beach is the entrance to the trail part of the route, you’ll enter into the bushes, dry woods and trees, until you see the long staircase made of rocks! The “rockstairs” can be very slippery so you have to be very extra careful here.
After the long uphills & rockstairs… you’ll reach the highest peak where you’ll see beautiful works of nature you’ll forget that you’re on a race. Haha. We were so
tired happy, we did not want to go down. 😀
Laira & I were the last to finish but it was soooo
tiring fun. We had our lunch (Saaaaraaaaaaaaap!!!!) then enjoyed the beach of Hamilo the whole afternoon!!! On the race day, runners can also use the beach for free!!! It will surely going to be an amazing trail race for all the participants. Aquathlete ka na agad pagtapos. Lol
So what are you waiting for? Register na! Here’s the link to the full details of the race: SALOMON X TRAIL RUN RACE DETAILS
