It was an amazing experience seeing young athletes give their best effort in order to achieve their dreams in life. It was also inspiring and impressive that on a very early age, these kids knew already what they want in life (or at least for now). I always believe that one of the best things in life is knowing what makes you happy and being able to do it passionately.
Last March 5-6, 333 boys and girls from Bacolod, Iloilo, Leyte and Cebu went to Don Bosco Technical School in Cebu City for the second Regional Selection Camp of Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA Presented by Alaska. The first selection camp was held in Baguio last February.
The young basketball hopefuls underwent different skill tests on the first day. Their dribbling, shooting and footwork skills were scrutinized by the Alaska coaches. Their height, wing span and jump were also measured and considered in determining wheter they will forward to the next phase of the selection camp.
The highest scorers on Day 1 returned on the next day for the scrimmages or friendly games. During the game, the coaches carefully watched each player inside the court while keeping the STAR values or Sportmanship, Teamwork, Postive Attitude and Respect in action.
